(1 April 2020)  The COVID-19 pandemic is expected to peak in the United States no earlier than April 15, 2020, according to the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME). 

  • By the end of the pandemic—expected in early August, 2020—more than 80,000 people in the United States will have died from COVID-19.
  • The United States is on track for a shortage of about 85,000 hospital beds at the height of the pandemic, with an intensive care unit bed shortage of almost 20,000 beds.
  • With almost 16,000 deaths from COVID-19, New York is expected to suffer the most fatalities among all US states.
