Gambia Bureau of Statistics

The Gambia Bureau of Statistics established under the Statistics Act of 2005 is a semi-autonomous statistics agency under the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs (MoFEA). It is the body entrusted to provide official statistics and is responsible for the collection, compilation, analysis and dissemination of official statistical data. The Bureau is as well responsible for monitoring and coordinating the National Statistical System and carrying out central functions required for all other statistical services. Survey and Census micro- data are invaluable resources for statisticians, researchers and policy analysts. Our strategy is to widely publicize and disseminate statistical information to different users in a timely manner. The website therefore is the most important tool in our dissemination strategy that facilitates the dissemination of these official statistics.

      The producer price Index (PPI) Basket measured on quarterly basis recorded an inflationary rate of (0.22%) in December 2022 (fourth quarter) whereas it was (0.18%) in September 2022 (third quarter). That is from Index of 148.30 September 2022 to Index 148.62 December 2022. The main contributors were all-Food items Index (0.85%) and quarrying of stone and sand Index (0.15%). For all-food items Index the increase was registered in Processed and preserved fish Index 2.70% when it was 1.01% September 2022 quarter. In the quarrying items Index, it was stone Index that increased to 0.21% when the increase registered in September quarter2022, 1.71%.
