Current account balance to GDP in Russia reached the highest level of 5.8% in 2008 while the all-time low of 1.5% was observed in 2013. In 2015 current account balance to GDP had another peak of 5.2% followed by diminution next year. Since 2016 there is an upward trend in current account balance to GDP in Russia .

Both OECD and IMF predict сurrent account balance as a percentage of GDP in Russia to grow until 2019 followed by a decline already in 2020. However, according to the OECD Long-term Forecast, the upward trend will continue until 2025.
