National Institution for Transforming India-NITI Aayog

The National Institution for Transforming India, also called NITI Aayog, was formed via a resolution of the Union Cabinet on January 1, 2015. NITI Aayog is the premier policy ‘Think Tank’ of the Government of India, providing both directional and policy inputs. While designing strategic and long term policies and programmes for the Government of India, NITI Aayog also provides relevant technical advice to the Centre and States.

      Title: Growth Of Urban Population   Description: According to the 2001 Census, the total urban population is 285.35 million, which accounts for 27.78 per cent of the total population. While the total population in the country increased by 21.34 per cent in 1991-2001, urban population grew by 31.36 per cent during the same period. However the decadal growth rate in urban population of 31.36% is moderate component to growth rate achieved in earlier two decades.
