Federal Statistics Office, Switzerland

The FSO is Switzerland's national competence centre for official statistics. It produces and publishes statistical information on the status and development of the population, economy, society, education, research, territory and the environment. This information is used for opinion building among the population and for the planning and management of key policy areas. They make an important contribution to a modern, democratic state.

The monthly figures are always provisional. Late registrations for previous months are probable. Every month the data for all previous months is overwritten. The commune of residence is defined by the postal code and postal locality in the owner's address.CantonThe canton is defined by the owner's address and not by the registration plate.Vehicle group / typeThe different vehicle types are defined in the Ordinance on the Technical Requirements for Road Vehicles (RVTRO) SR 741.41, art. 6 to 28 (in German).
