      U.S. selected services total revenue for the first quarter of 2021, adjusted for seasonal variation but not for price changes, was $4,199.7 billion, an increase of 2.4 percent (± 0.2 percent) from the fourth quarter of 2020 and up 4.5 percent (± 0.6 percent) from the first quarter of 2020. The fourth quarter of 2020 to first quarter of 2021 percentage change was not revised from the advance estimate.

      The seasonal factors are based on a short time series that may not have stable seasonal patterns.  As more estimates are added to the time series, large revisions in seasonal factors and consequently historical estimates may be observed.   Data users should exercise caution when drawing inferences based on the seasonally adjusted estimates. Unless otherwise specified, seasonally adjusted estimates are obtained using a direct seasonal adjustment at the published NAICS (North American Industry Classification System) level.
