EAMFP growth measures the residual growth in the joint production of both the desirable and the undesirable outputs that cannot be explained by changes in the consumption of factor inputs (including labour, produced capital and natural capital). Therefore, for a given growth of input use, EAMFP increases when GDP increases or when pollution decreases. As part of the growth accounting framework underlying the EAMFP indicator, the growth contribution of natural capital and growth adjustment for pollution abatement indicators are derived: Growth contribution of natural capital - measures to what extent a country's growth in output is attributable to natural resource use; Growth adjustment for pollution abatement - measures to what extent a country's GDP growth should be corrected for pollution abatement efforts - adding what has been undervalued due to resources being diverted to pollution abatement, or deducing the ‘excess' growth which is generated at the expense of environmental quality.

Short-term statistics (STS) give information on a wide range of economic activities according to NACE Rev.2 classification (Statistical Classification of Economic Activities in the European Community). The industrial import price indices offer information according to the CPA classification (Statistical Classification of Products by Activity in the European Economic Community). Construction indices are broken down by Classification of Types of Construction (CC). All data under this heading are index data. Percentage changes are also available for each indicator. The index data are generally presented in the following forms:UnadjustedCalendar adjustedSeasonally adjusted Depending on the STS regulation data are accessible as monthly, quarterly and annual data. This heading covers the indicators listed below in four different sectors. Based on the national data, Eurostat compiles EU and euro area infra-annual economic statistics. Among these, a list of indicators, called Principal European Economic Indicators (PEEIs) has been identified by key users as being of prime importance for the conduct of monetary and economic policy of the euro area. These indicators are mainly released through Eurostat's website under the heading Euro-indicators. There are eight PEEIs contributed by STS and they are marked with * in the text below. The indicator measures the quantities of selected waste categories and by-products that are shipped between the EU Members States (intra-EU) and across the EU borders (extra-EU). Five classes have been selected: plastic; paper and carboard; precious metal; iron and steel; copper, aluminiun and nickel. The indicator includes the following variables: • Intra EU trade of recyclable raw materials (measured as the Imports from EU countries). • Imports from non-EU countries and exports to non-EU countries of recyclable raw materials (as regards extra-EU trade). The indicator is based on International Trade in Goods Statistics (ITGS) published by Eurostat. The scope of the “recyclable raw materials” is measured in terms of relevant product codes from the Combined Nomenclature used in International Trade in Goods Statistics (see list of codes selected).

      1) This dataset contains monthly blast furnace iron (BFI) and direct reduced iron (DRI) production data. The total for the year is not the sum of the 12 calendar months. This is because annual production is reported separately. Regional and grand totals refer to the countries listed only. Other countries report only annual - and not monthly - data. 2) World Steel Association collects Blast Furnace Iron production (BFI) from 39 countries and Direct Reduced Iron production (DRI) production from 14 countries . The 39 countries accounted for approximately 99% of total world BFI production and 14 countries accounted for 85% of total world DRI in 2015.
